holy toledo

January 10, 2008 · No Comments

for some odd reason, I’m addicted to Bacon Bits today… anyways

Note to world: add the name Dave Cox to the likes of Willie Beamon and Matt Saracen.

Toledo (the top team in the MAC and my FS in my Browns chise is from there) and their 95 OVR RB, came to visit Tuscaloosa and gave them a bit of a run. The Tide offense was sharp and near perfect again, but the D (which has 7 new starters, including the entire LB core) had no answer for the Rockets. An upset looked to be in the making with Toledo up by 4 in the middle of the 4th quarter

Then things got worse………

QB Leon Frazier tore his pectoral while scrambling for a run (I’m learning first hand the problems with an option offense, your QB gets nailed all the time). And in came Dave Cox to prevent a Toledo upset.

The Talladega native was a lightly recruited 3 star ATH. He was only the 22nd ranked ATH from the class of 2018. As a kid he dreamed of breaking the color barrier in NASCAR, but he could not deal with the racist crowds so he threw away a promising career and quit at age 16. He took up football in his SR year of H.S. and played both DB and QB in high school and was all state at both positions. When he came to Alabama there were thoughts of turning him into a WR or FS, but he suprisingly came in as a 76 OVR QB. He redshirted his first year, but in 2019 he served not only as the back up QB, but played on special teams and was the 5th WR. Despite his role, he has a had difficult time picking up girls because he doesn’t start

Even though he was the best player in the Spring Game, Cox (85 OVR) expected to just be a placeholder and to contribute on special teams and 5 wide sets. Frazier was back for his SR year and Cox’s time would be in 2021. However Frazier tore his boob and Cox had the game in his hands.

In the final drive of the game, Cox did not throw the ball once, choosing instead to move up the field using his RBs and FBs. But in the lone passing attempt, Cox instead used his 4.48 speed (83spd) to scramble in for the 15 yard Game Winning TD. With Frazier not coming back until after the Iron Bowl, the Cox era unexpectedly begins. But honestly dude, this sucks.

Douchewraps Key Stats

Frazier 21-26 269 yards 2 TDs (there goes his SR year)
Cox 0-0 0 yards; 15 yards rushing 1 GWTD
Junior Williams 107 yards 1 TD
TE Ben Weber 6 rec 62 yards 2 TDs

Cox youre QB1 now, season is in your hands

2020 Bama 2-0 (0-0)
Namath Overall 156-35

narrow win over noles in 2020 opener

January 10, 2008 · 1 Comment

YEAR 15 WIN #155

since I’m Chasing Bowden’s record, I might as well do a brief timeline on Florida State

1835 - Chief Osceola amd friends kill General Wiley Thompson, the US House rep from Georgia, in charge of removing the Seminoles from Florida

1946-48 - Birmingham native Bobby Bowden plays QB for the Crimson Tide

1976 - Bowden takes head coaching job at FSU

1988- Music Video of the year, actually….. Century comes out

1993 - After 18 years, Bowden wins first National Title. (I guess there is some hope for Namath in my Dynasty)

1995 - Randy Moss kicked out of FSU for smoking pot. Worse move ever (I can’t believe I found this pic)

2005 - ABC cameras pan to Jenn Sterger and friends during Miami / florida State game

2017 - In my Dynasty FSU steals star Qb Charles Jefferson of Pelham, AL

219 - Jefferson leads Noles to a 12-2 record and wins a Heisman as a 3rd year SO

2020 - Week 1 Game of the week pits #22 BAMA vs. #15 FSU

Anyways I’ll make this quick because I’m tired. I switched to the WVU playbook rather than my Melting Pot Offense (a mix of plays from WVU, USC & UF) and its pretty sweet. With all starting lineman back from 2019 Bama’s focused its game on the run. QB Leon Frazier was clutch, making very few mistakes and rushing for two TDs, while Junior Williams was a beast on the ground with 168 yards and two TDs. 2019 Heisman winner Jefferson was tough in his homecoming passing for 330 yards and 3 TDs, but Frazier and Williams controlled the clock to keep down FSU’s momentum. The ball control planned worked (60% of the plays were runs) . The result: A 3 point Tide victory!!!

Alabama 31, Florida State 28

Key Stats

Frazier 10-16 114 yards; 71 yards rushing 2 TDs
Williams 168 yards 2 TDs

2020 Bama 1-0 (0-0)
Namath Overall 155-35 (15 years)

2020 bama preview

January 9, 2008 · 1 Comment

2020 Preview

……not the TV show, in which they will probably talk about Hillary a lot. I loved her show and she’s an okay pop star. hill in 08!!!!

no I’m talking about my 2020 Joe Namath led Bama team. 2020 marks year number 15 in my NCAA 07 Dynasty on PS2 and I still don’t have a national title. Oddly enough my QB wears number 15. Destiny? Anyways here’s quick preview in semi non-paragraph form

Schedule (preseason rank#22)

Florida State #15
Toledo
at South Carolina
at Arkansas #16
Florida #19
at UAB
Ole Miss
at Tennessee #21
Mississippi State
at LSU #14
Auburn
at Notre Dame #5

yikes!!! tough schedule. Razorbacks, Vols and LSU all on the road. Florida State was scheduled because of their QB Charles Jefferson. The 4th year JR won the Heisman last year as a SO, like my QB he wears Tebow’s #15, but what’s worse is the fact that I tried to recruit this Pellham, Alabama native. This sellout will be given a hard time in his homecoming. UAB is on the schedule because its been awhile since the team’s been to Legion Field (former site of the Iron Bowl) and their star player is QB Joe Holmes who transferred from Bama. Holmes was rated the #3 QB but was beat out by 3 year starter Leon Frazier (QB#4). Team finishes the year in South Bend, hopefully this game will have BCS implications, but more importantly I want these Southern boys to play in cold weather, I hope it snows.

- Team consists of the following recruiting classes

2016 ranked#3 - ten 5th year SRs on team, 9 of them starting inlcuding QB,HB,CB1
2017 ranked #25: TE Ben Weber = Kellen Winslow
2018 ranked #35: 3star ATH Dave Cox will start at QB next year, best player in spring game
2019 ranked #19: Rosario was a sweet starting SS as a true FR
2020 ranked #15: three 5stars recruits will see immediate p/t

- Its been a while since Bama had a Top 10 class (Bama was put on probabtion in 2017) and 2020 will see all of the players from the #3 2016 class graduate or dropout after bowl season. Bama fate will lie in the hands of these 5th year SRs. QB Leon Frazier, RB Junior Williams, CB Jacob Martin, FS Brandon Williams. C David Ceasar, and RG George Leonard will all be starting for their 3rd years. Martin and Caesar are AAs

- team returns 4 starters on D and 8 on offense. In fact only the WRs and FB are new starters. For the third year Bama returns back the QB / RB duo of Urban Chicagonite Leon Frazier and Junior Williams. The former 5 star recruits (QB#4 & HB#3) experienced both ends of success, going to the BCS Title game in 2018 and of course last year’s 8-5 disaster. Junior’s twin brother starts at FS, he is the Def Impact player and was named Captain. Pretty impressive for a 3 star recruit (FS#33)

Other Notes

- All American CB SR Jacob Turner gave up his PR and KR duties to SO RB Marcus Cook (HB#48!!!!!), the fastest player on the team; 99spd. rsFR Mark Larsen (MLB#2) was converted to OLB and was the most improved player after the spring(+11). Two JUCOs on the starting lineup SR MLB Zach Mayfield and JR DT Cory Carey of Roy, UTAH (”the town” Roy, not “the name” not to be confused with Johnny Utah, the QB star from Ohio State on Point Break). I love JUCOs for some odd reason and I love Point Break. True ghetto no doubt

2020 recruiting class

January 7, 2008 · No Comments

Alright woohoo, LSU, Kansas, Georgia, USC, West Virginia, split national champs, yay! K back to real football

I’m very ambivalent about my Bama Dynasty in the 2010s (2010 is when I switched to Heisman level) 6 SEC Titles, 3 BCS Title game appearances, 1 Heisman, 1 Hispanic Legend, but on the other hand no national title. And I can’t blame my players I’ve recruited tons of 5 star and 4 star players. Anyways hopefully this first recruiting class of the new decade may bring Coach Namath that elusive title

These reports won’t be as detailed as they were during the wiki/SVSW era. sorry. This is the first year since probabtion that I’ve targeted players with poor discipline. Hopefully the players with excellent discipline will help them out. Class was ranked #15. There a three 5 star recruits who will all see the field in 2020. 3 QBs were signed and will all probably be redshirited.

Special Awards

Seth Sanchez El Awardo in Hispanic Excellencia
Seth Sanchez (Class of ‘14) was my favorite player in my Dynasty , he came from Soccorro, TX and opened up the door for Hispanic players in the SEC. Award is given to the best hispanic player on the team. Winner’s family is provided with several job opportunities in the Tuscaloosa area that pay in cash and do not require a social security numbers

Michael Rosario FR SS Greenville, MS

Rosario came to Greenville by mistake from Cuba, his family was trying to get to Miami. He can’t speak english and actually began playing football because he thought he was going to soccer try outs. Neverthelss the True Freshman stepped on the field and had an immediate impact, even getting an important block in the Iron Bowl. He beat out the other 3 players eligible for this award

Cooper / Roberts Social Status Award

Given to a player from an Upper Middle to Rich background, who spends most of his time hanging out with the greeks and thinking very little of poor students and GDIs. This person promotes the status quo, wears a lot of A&F, loves khaki shorts and saying the term “bro” and “kegger” a lot. Winner is given a $400 gift certificate to American Eagle, 10 bootleg tapes from Dave Matthew’s Band Concerts, and also allowed one Get Out of Jail free pass from Campus Police, unless if its a rape charge, in which Daddy’s money should be good enough.

David Ceasar JR C Jackonsville, FL

The two time All American did not really enjoy hanging out with his teammates and often blamed QB Leon Frazier and his Micahel Vick attitude (minus the dog fighting) for the losses. Could possibly leave early for the NFL

Preston Bodie Broadus Memorial “I’m Ready to be Good” Award

Awarded to a Senior (or 4th year JR) from a low income background, who has best turned around his life in Tuscaloosa. Winner’s family gets Federal Witness Protection program security, should he decide to snitch on people back from the hood, however like in real life, safety in not guaranteed because the feds are too busy worry about problems abroad rather that fixing actual problems in the innner city. R.I.P. Bodie.

Wendell Harris SR WR Bellefontaine, MO

Went from St.Louis thug to team leader (see story from win #154) Broke school reception record with 73, will be missed and hopefully only less than 50% of his NFL pay check will go towards paying off leeches from his old neighbourhood

arkansas finally a bride

December 20, 2007 · No Comments

not too happy, i beat #8 Wisconsin, but then loss to Arkansas for the first time since 2006. I gonna go watch Wicker Park now. Details below

Tide Use Fullback to Down #8 Badgers

The Crimson Tide offense ran into their first challenge of the 2019 season in Madison. The Tide knew that Madison was a great party town and had a sweet hockey team, but they weren’t prepared for the Badgers D. They played smart double spyng QB Frazier and double teaming star WR Wendell Harris. So the Tide decided to use 5th year SR FB Stevie Green of Geneva, AL (known for their River Festival on several of their plays. And thanks to a steller (sorry for using this word, hipsters in my hood kill it) Offensive line, Green had two easy TDs.

The Tide secondary made up for their sloppy play in the first two blowout wins, with 4 total INTs. Without these key turnovers, the score would have been much closer

Alabama 27, Wisconsin 10

Douchewraps Key Stats
Frazier 17-21 190 yards, 44 yards rushing
FB Stevie Green 39 yards 2 TDs
Harris 5-46-0

The Tide moved up one on idle Arizona State to #4 and now have a home game against #16 Arkansas

Arkansas Finally a Bride

In my Dynasty the Arkansas games are always nuts, but in 13 years they’ve only beat me once, in 2006.

Flashbacks on some insane games against the hogs (please read to get some background how this early SEC match always gives me a heart attack)

2013 hahahaha I tottaly remember how tired I was that night
2015 OT again
2018I can’t believe I compared Ark/Bama to DL/JP

However this time around the #16 Razonbacks came out with a huge upset victory, and all this on 5 pass attempts…. YES 5 PASS ATTEMPTS!!!!

True Freshman QB Danny Brown (#5 QB, #2 in TX ly) showed no fear in his 1st SEC start. Weary of the Tide’s secondary, Brown only went 3 for 5 for 24 yards in the air, but attacked Bama on the ground rushing for 52 yards and 2 TDs. 5th Year SR HB Leon Tyson helped Brown with 156 yards rushing. Bama could not stop the run game. On offense it was the opposite with Arkansas LBs and DLs stopping the rushing attack. The only brightspot once again came from Heisman hopeful Wendell Harris who had 10 receptions for 180 yards and 1TD. In fact Harris did not go off until the 4th quarter, when Bama was down 28-7. The Tide came back, but still came up short

Arkansas 31, Alabama 28

Douchewraps Key Stats
Frazier 20-31 285 yards 1 TD 1 INT, 24 yards rush 1 TD
Junior Williams 26 yards rush 1 TD (horrible)
Wendell Harris 10-180-1

Bama drops to #10 in the coaches poll and #13 in the AP. This is not good. South Carolina is up Next

Bama 2019 3-1 (1-1)
Namath overall 149-31
