SVSW 2013: tide get crackin’ in the 4th

for those who don’t know about South vs. Southwest click here

3 quarters had passed by and Alabama was only up 28-10. Seth Sanchez (who ran charity to allow 100 South Tucson Latinos watch the game) seemed to be the only one awake for this game and West Hollywood’s Stephen Mack was making my thrash talkin’ secondary look silly. Mack pictured left, ignored taunts and finished the game with 9 catches 161 yards and 1 TD. The quarter did end on high note however with Dion Banks sacking Arizona’s QB in the endzone for a safety. Banks was supposed to be suspended for fighting a parking cop, i choose not to suspend him, parking sucks!

Enter the greatest 4th quarter in South vs. South West History

Up 18 points Alabama had the game in hand, but the looks on their face was comparable to the real life 2004 Auburn Team during their Sugar Bowl victory (ahem playoff 8 or 16). The Egg looked like it would be staying in Arizona again. But then I pressed pause to grab a drink from the fridge and then I did the math. Holy smokes I was just 14 points away from a tie on aggregate:

Alabama 23+14=37
Arizona 41+10=51

See, my Math is really good, I think I failed 11th grade though. Anyways my passing game was pretty much useless (mostly my fault for testing out the Virginia Tech option heavy playbook),Graves had thrown 3 INTs and my #1 WR David Wayne had been shut down by the Arizona secondary. So what did I do? I went to David Wayne in 4 straight plays for 95 total yards and it ended in a 66 yard TD.

Bama 30, Arzona 10 (ARZ 51-44)

The defence held tight and Graves led another drive. With about 1:30 left, Bama was at the Wildcats 20 yard line and then the unthinkable happened…

Graves threw his 4th INT of the day

…..but because the SBD version of the Wildcats didn’t realize what the spread was, they decided to the pass it on their first play instead of kill the clock, and Bama’s Mack: Andrew (who earlier won an imporant SVSW award) snagged the ball for an INT and ran it right to the Bear Down sign. He turned to the Arizona crowd, pointed to his crouch and yelled “Go Down this Bear, bitches”

Meanwhile Graves seemed upset on the sidelines (from his 4 INTs), so Coach Namath came over and slapped him on the head and said one thing “Triple Option Right to Dirty Sanchez” And Graves proved why he’s the team leader and he showed Tucson how to run a proper option

Graves drawing in Zona’s big LB

Pitches it at the last possible moment despite getting nailed, (risked his NFL career)

Dirty Sanchez for the easy 6, thanks to Graves’s bravery

Alabama 37, Arizona 10 (ARZ 51-50)

Kicker Justin Brooks then starting running on the field for the extra point, then Namath ran after him and pulled him to ground, and said “We ain’t no wussies” And so they went for two. A 4 WR shotgun pass play which ended in a Graves weak side scramble…..

ya get crackin’ we fertilizin’ some eggs 2nite on 4th

Sanchez 148 yards 2 TDs
Graves 12-25 201 yards 1 TD 4 INTs
Andrew Mack 7 tackles 1 INT and the SVSW MVP
