the game that almost never happened

January 5, 2007 · 5 Comments

last night went out for dinner (very rare I usually go home, water my plants, then watch the Fight Network or some teen drama until I fall asleep)and watched some alternate history flick dealing with what would’ve happened if the Confederacy won the civil. There was hardly any mention of sport the entire movie. The only mention was that Canada dominated the olympics because all the slaves and most black people moved there from the C.S.A.

Anyways point is much like the Confederate States of America, my classic game against Arkansas almost became a fictional event. I came home really late and tried to play my game with #9 Arkansas before I entered dreamland. And in fact the game was so boring through the first 3 quarters that I almost turned off the machine. Arkansas’s top two WRs (both 90+ OVR) were suspeneded and it wasn’t that my defense was playing good, but its just that they were reall really rilly bad. Ditto for my offence. Sanchez could produce nothing, My WRs were dropping balls, like Wright and Weaver drop rhymes and basically all of my plays were Terrrence Graves scrambles. So with the score 20-14, I almost turned off the game in the 3rd quarter

Okay but I was like man, its only one quarter, I’ll just kill the clock…………..

uhmmm but Arkansas HB Kyles Sanders had something to say about that. He returned a 93 yard PR for a TD. All of a sudden they are up 20-14. My offence can’t do shite, so on the next drive Sanders is unstoppable on the run, knocking over my star studded D. My offence is out on 3 plays, then a FREAKING deep pass to sanders (76 yards) for the TD

Arkansas 28 Alabama 20 with like two minutes to go

okay stuff gets crazy in the last two mintues so I’ll put it in point form

- first play from the Bama 10 yard line is a deep pass to Chris Richard for a 79 yard TD. Graves Converts the 2 PT conversion
Arkansas 28, Bama 28

- I have no time outs left and Arkansas has no problem getting in FG territory. There is about 40 seconds left so I decided to call A Dime deep cover. I move all my DL out of the way and I let Sanders score a TD. Otherwise they wouldve just ran out the clock and had the GWFG. Believe me it was very hard not to tackle a player
Arkansas 35, Bama 28

- With about a 20 seconds left I call a deep 5 wide pass play, everyone is covered so bam Graves just takes off, breaks about 6 tackles and goes in for the TD as the clock winds down
35-35, we’re going to OT

- Arkansas is held to FG attempt and misses. WOW!!!!! (I’ve never seen the CPU miss a FG on Heisman)

- My turn on Offence I’m really nervous on one play and I decide to scramble back like 20 yards. Stoopid me. I ask Corso for help and he tells me to pass on 4th down. I check to see how long the FG is and its 54 yards, but the wind is in my favor.

- Justin Brooks hits the FG
Alabama wins 38-35

Rated #2 greatest game of all time behind the 2009 Sugar Bowl.

Graves 16-30 253 yards 2 TDs, 135 yards rushing 2 TDs

Kyle Sanders for Arkansas has 178 yards rushing for 2 TDs, 1 catch for a 76 yard TD and a PR TD, (4 Total TDs and more than 400 yards of total offence) nuff respect

I hate you Hogs, but I respect you.
