2013 recruiting update: c-murder & colbert

January 10, 2007 · 2 Comments

recruiting has taken somewhat of hit for the Crimson Tide in 2013. (previous recruit rankings) Many seemed scared of roster depth, while other targets signed closer to home. One recruit loss that hurt was 5 Star OLB Jorge Payne who was in attendance during the Tennessee game, ended up signing with Utah, claiming that Alabama didn’t have enough pacific islanders on their team. However Alabama did sign two quality instate players

Trevor Gibson
CB 6′1 179
Sheffield, Alabama
5 Star

Yup thats right, he’s from the same hometown as Alabama QB legend Chad Arnold. Sheffield along with Tuscumbia and Muscle Shoals is located in Colbert County. Trevor was going to sign with Alabama from day 1. He was raised by his single mother who is a curator at Ivy Green the birthplace of Helen Keller (possible relation to current Tide FR CB Jaymond Keller). Because of his mother, off the field he is well educated and does a lot of charity work, but on the field, this guy is a walking mouth. During the Tennessee game he was seen yapping all game at their WRs, and in street clothes he even tried to line up on the field on several times. Trevor was so heartbroken by the loss that he immediately signed a letter of intent to play Alabama.

Anyways here’s the Colbert Report in Colbert County

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

Adam Thomas
TE 6′6 240
Selmont, AL
4 Star

Growing up in Selmont was tough for Adam. He came from a poor family (Selmont MEDIAN INCOME is $11,000) and was the only white kid on the football team (Selmont is 91.3% Black). Despite his skills at TE he never fit in. He tried to learn a lot about african american culture but he just didn’t get it until he read Death Around the Corner by C-Murder. Inspired the book, Adam wrote letters to the wrongly convicted artist/writer in prison and they soon became pen pals. He finally won over the friendship of his black teammates when C-Murder (with jail guards in hand) visited Adam’s high school

The Tide have a soft verbal from 5 Star T P.J. Nelson, however he is visiting undfeated Florida State this week as they play rival Florida who is 10-1 and has clinched the SEC East

build a bridge: wayne shines in LSU game

January 10, 2007 · 2 Comments

HPIM0512 First off here are some streaks of mine that the 2013 Tennessee team put to an end:

- 6 game win streak vs. the Vols
- 22 game win streak in the SEC
- 18 game win streak in Tuscaloosa

That being said, the team had no heart in its victory against lowly Miss St. They were forgetting about the main goal each year.

SEC, not BCS

So in the pre-game speech for the LSU game, Namath had these words. “Hey sissy boys, just like the ex-girlfriend you always whine about, simply BUILD A BRIDGE and get over it.”

And a great Bridge they done built. LSU games are usually tight, but on Seniors day in Tuscaloosa, Alabama sent out a message to the rest of the SEC. JR David Wayne had the best game of his career with 6 catches for 180 yards and 2 TDs. LSU did a fine job of stopping the run so the passing game took over. In his last game in Tuscaloosa Terrence Graves was 12-18 with 250 yards and 2 TDs, while SR FB Dominic Coles had 53 yards and 1 TD on the ground. Game ended with a Rudy-esque 4 yard pass to Eric Goolsby from 3rd string QB Greg Montgomery. A Senior and a Tuscaloosa native. Everyone cried, including LSU who loss 36-14.

Bama now sits at 10-1 heading into the Iron Bowl against 5-6 Auburn (they have 4 WRs over 90). A loss would probably see Arkansas go to Atlanta, so this is a must win

hump day stuff

January 10, 2007 · 2 Comments

These are the google search terms of the day that led people to my site

“colt brennan rapist” 2 hits
“florida gators and steroid use” 5 hits

hahhahahahaha

anyways I wanted Ohio St to win (feel bad for Ginn and Jess), but at the same time I’m happy that Ron Zook’s SR class won a title for whatever the Gator’s coach’s name is. Also I wonder if all the racist florida fans who lashed out at Leak were celebrating Monday. So I guess people can finally forget about ex Gator coach and current South Carolina Gamecock coach Steve Spurrier (he would have never recruited a QB like Leak)

LSU update later today, I have to study this marketing report

the tennessee loss

January 10, 2007 · 2 Comments

The other day I lost 23-20 to rival Tennessee. This was loss number 20 in my dynasty and I can’t blame CPU A.I. or outside distractions. Tennessee WR Billy Benko did not have a TD but he had 8 receptions for 220 yards. My D did not even play that bad. There was a lot of punting in this game. The highlight for me was a TD pass in the 4th quarter on 4th down to Anthony Thomas which tied the game at 20. but the Vols ran a pretty sweet 2 minute offense to set up the game winning FG. Before this game, I had felt invincible with the 2013 squad. I came into the game confident and executed most of my plays, Tennessee just played better. Other notable stats below

- Graves 12-20 199 yards 2 TDs 1 INT (and INT by 99 MLB Danny Battle)
- Seth Sanchez 113 yards, 0 TDs
- David Wayne 3-62-1; Anthony Thomas 3-62-1 (weird)

Went on to play Mississippi St on the road and the #116 ranked 1-8 team was up 14-0 after the 1st quarter. They only had one player over 90 and he was QB Chris Perez, a Latino!!!! Now this game was cheap: fumbles and dropped passes galore. So i put the game in Graves’s hands and spent most of the 2nd Half scrambling with him leading Alabama to a 41-24 victory

Key Stats

- Graves 10-24 179 yards, 3 INTs (with the cuffed cheat!!!!) 88 yards rushing 1 TD
- Marcus Minor 2 TDs
- Sanchez 74 yards 1 TD
- FB Dominic Coles 3 Total TDs (2 rushing, 1 rec)
- Anthony Thomas 4-61-1

(I’m guessing my D was slack out of sympathy / support for Sylvester Croom)

One-loss Florida has pretty much clinched the SEC East so the battle for the SEC West title is on. And Bama needs to beat LSU to save the season

Bama 5-1
Arkansas 5-1
LSU 4-2
