hesiman recap

January 12, 2007 · 2 Comments

i’ll be in Seattle, America tomorrow so this will be quick as I want to play my Sugar Bowl match against West Virginia.

Anyways what makes Graves’s heisman so special is that the other nominees had better stats, but I think they factored in his leadership above all. This was a very close race and it seemed like voting was regional (Graves – SE & SW; Barclay – NE & MW; Brown – W), but the right man won even though the other two had better stats:

Graves QB SR Alabama – 163-261 2582 yards 20 TDs 15 INTs; 852 yards rushing 12 TDs
Kelechi Barclay HB JR Ohio St – 1572 yards 24 TDs
Taylor Brown QB rFR USC – 2904 yards 38 TDs; 499 yards rushing 4 TDs

Its off to New Orleans now for the Sugar Bowl against 11-1 West Virginia. i played them last year and won 23-20. They have a sweet QB in Mike Forte. Oklahoma plays Ohio St in the BCS Title game, they will try for a 3peat and a 45th straight win

2013 recruiting: army brats

January 12, 2007 · 2 Comments

The third and final in-season recruit signed with the Crimson Tide at the end of the Year.

Introducing

P.J. Nelson
6′4 326 T
Fort Rucker, AL
5 STAR

Is the University of Alabama developing a military complex? Last year’s signing of Fort Hood’s Marcus Minor appears to have opened the floodgates for recruits from major military bases. P.J. comes from Fort Rucker which is the U.S.’s main training center for Army Aviation. Aviation is in the Nelsons’s blood. During World War I, his great great grandfather, Constantine Nelson was supposed to be the first black American fighter pilot, however he bypassed training with the French Legion in favor of entering an underground dance competition entitled “Chraleston with the Stars”. He lost. This paved the way for Eugene Jacques Bullard to make history instead. This story passed through the generations, but no one ended up flying in the military as they could not shed Constantine’s reputation. The Nelson family would fly for the Postal Service, American Airlines & a Southern Cusine Catering service that had clients in L.A. and Seattle, but nadda on flying for the stars and stripes. P.J. however showed the most promise as a child which led his family on move to Fort Rucker. However in between 8th and 9th grade, P.J. went from 100lbs to 300lbs. He was too heavy to fly any of the fighter planes and was brokenhearted. He soon took up football and took out his frustrations on his opponent becoming one of the best Tackles ever in the state of Alabama.

SEC 3peat

January 12, 2007 · 2 Comments

with all the excitement and shock genearated from Terrence Graves’s Heisman, I totally forgot about my SEC 3peat. The previous two championship games were instant classics. There was the 2011 game against UGA which ended in a game winning TD to Joel Thompson. While in 2012, SS Stephen Schilcher took out Florida Gators star QB Martin Ford (an Alabama native) early in the game which no doubt helped the Tide in a 24-17 victory. The 2013 Championship game would not provide the same drama, but proved to be the best performance of my team thus far in 8 years of Dynasty play.

Sanchez luvs the A-T-L 10-2 Florida arrived in Atlanta with a healthy Martin Ford and a plethora of NFL talent (entire starting lineup was over 90). Ford’s first play resulted in an 88 yard pass in the endzone. The Tide fired back setting up a Seth Sanchez TD. By the end of the 1st quarter the game hinted towards another dramatic finish with the score tied at 14. Enter the Terrence Graves show! (yes I am aware that his name is actually “Terrance” but in the wiki and blog I’ve always called him “Terrence” it was only until the Heisman ceremony that realized the correct spelling). The run game forced the Gators to put more men in the box which helped set up the passing game as Graves would only have two incompletions. And when the A.I. kicked up its man coverage, Graves scrambled. Soon a double spy was put on Graves, but Alabama’s balanced offence was too much. I think I ran every single play in the book. Graves would finish with 5 Total TDs, which probably swayed a lot of Heisman voters in his favor. In fact the only botched play was when TE Trevor “Silverlake” Young stole a reception that was intended for Dominic Coles. The Los Angeles native said he wanted to begin his 2014 Heisman campaign early and he felt left out in the balanced offence.

The Gators looked like a JV team.

Final score: Alabama Crimson Tide 52, Florida Gators 20 (ALABAMA 3 PEAT)

Key Stats
- Graves 16-18 267 yards 2 TDs; 103 yards rushing 3 TDs
- Sanchez 145 yards 2 TDs; 1 reception TD
- Thomas 6 receptions 127 yards
- UF QB Martin Ford 188 yards 2 TDs

graves wins 2013 heisman

HOLY SMOKES

I AM SHOCKED

I did not expect this at all as Terrence Graves was in and out of the Heisman race the entire year, never going higher than 4th. SEC 3peat takes a backseat to this story for now as the San Antonio native becomes the first Heisman Winner in Crimson Tide history.

I REALLY DID NOT EXPECT THIS (that’s why the pic is bad)

so happy
