SEC 3peat

January 12, 2007 · 2 Comments

with all the excitement and shock genearated from Terrence Graves’s Heisman, I totally forgot about my SEC 3peat. The previous two championship games were instant classics. There was the 2011 game against UGA which ended in a game winning TD to Joel Thompson. While in 2012, SS Stephen Schilcher took out Florida Gators star QB Martin Ford (an Alabama native) early in the game which no doubt helped the Tide in a 24-17 victory. The 2013 Championship game would not provide the same drama, but proved to be the best performance of my team thus far in 8 years of Dynasty play.

Sanchez luvs the A-T-L 10-2 Florida arrived in Atlanta with a healthy Martin Ford and a plethora of NFL talent (entire starting lineup was over 90). Ford’s first play resulted in an 88 yard pass in the endzone. The Tide fired back setting up a Seth Sanchez TD. By the end of the 1st quarter the game hinted towards another dramatic finish with the score tied at 14. Enter the Terrence Graves show! (yes I am aware that his name is actually “Terrance” but in the wiki and blog I’ve always called him “Terrence” it was only until the Heisman ceremony that realized the correct spelling). The run game forced the Gators to put more men in the box which helped set up the passing game as Graves would only have two incompletions. And when the A.I. kicked up its man coverage, Graves scrambled. Soon a double spy was put on Graves, but Alabama’s balanced offence was too much. I think I ran every single play in the book. Graves would finish with 5 Total TDs, which probably swayed a lot of Heisman voters in his favor. In fact the only botched play was when TE Trevor “Silverlake” Young stole a reception that was intended for Dominic Coles. The Los Angeles native said he wanted to begin his 2014 Heisman campaign early and he felt left out in the balanced offence.

The Gators looked like a JV team.

Final score: Alabama Crimson Tide 52, Florida Gators 20 (ALABAMA 3 PEAT)
