do not let the statistics from marcus minor’s record breaking night fool you; he loss the game to South Carolina. In fact he owes his Alabama passing record to David Wayne (9-191-1) and Anthony Thomas (5-173-1) who made terrible throws into spectacular catches. With bootleg USC focusing on the run (Sanchez would only rush for 75 yards & 1 TD), the passing game was wide open. But Minor could not deliver in the clutch. In the 4th quarter he had several opportunities to win the game but instead he would throw 2 INTs and then with 12 seconds and no timeouts, he did not have enough speed to scramble out of bounds when all WRs were covered.
The OLine played terrible as well, prompting a serious revision of the depth chart. But perhaps the downslide started when TE Trevor Young was injured early and the team found out he would be out for 7 weeks. After all the fun from the SVSW post party, due mostly to Young hooking everyone up with girls, the team saw him as their leader. With Trevor being carried out by a stretcher, morale was down and the Tide looked like they lost a step. Anyways Kudos to (2-3) South Carolina (b- team) who played well, with their 33-30 upset dropping Alabama from #2 to #17. I admit I was looking ahead to the Notre Dame and Tennessee games.
