i’ll let the boosters decide on this one.

free Safety Clarence Morgan of Calgary and his best friend Strong Safety Charles Sanders of Odessa (both 2nd Team All Americans) had blamed themselves for the losses against LSU and Florida State. With this guilt the “Drillaz” declared for the NFL Draft…….

however all ten of the graduating Seniors sent a package to their off-campus condo and its contents consisted of:

- a pair of glasses
- law school notes
- an ohio state apron
- a seth sanchez jersey
- a pink bikini set

all reminders of why they should stay at Alabama for one more year. and it worked, ditto for 1st Team All American Center Lawrence Castillo. Seth gave him a call and said that hispanic education is in your hands now. So cheers to this years grads for keeping Castillo and the Drillaz in school for the 2016 season.

Snow in Tucson?

Yaletown comes to Surrey?

Alabama without Seth Sanchez?

All unlikely realities that the world will have to deal with. One of the hardest things I’ve done this year was press select “Export Class” after the 2015 Season. I will have to play NCAA Football 07 without Bama legend Seth Sanchez. But life goes on and so does Coach Namath’s quest to bring Tuscaloosa a National Title. RPT was kind enough to present to me his jersey. And in his honor, I will retire the #7 and his jersey will be worn in pride during big events. Man the jersey is too pretty to be worn on the bus. I don’t want it to get stained. To celebrate the occasion a Mexican Feast was prepared. You will be missed.

sanchez’s last stand

February 26, 2007 · 5 Comments

a hispanic football star earned MVP honors at the 2016 Fiesta Bowl between Alabama and Florida State, however his name was not Seth Sanchez. FSU’s Dominican star Bryan Guerrero had 8 receptions for 210 yards and 3 TDs in a 42 to 21 victory for the Seminoles. 2nd Team All Americans Jaymond Keller and Clarence Morgan did their best to contain Guerrero, but the Valley Alabama native (same hometown as Tide Export William Fuller) was unstoppable. To add insult to injury, FSU’s QB was 4 Star JUCO Brent Ray, also from the state of Alabama threw for 387 yards and 6 TDs. The Seminoles jumped out to a 28-0 lead at the half The double team was put on Guerrero, but then FSU would go to their running back Larry Gipson (not gibson). Gipson would end up rushing for 106 yards and catch 2 TDs while receiving 156 YARDS!!!!!!!!! Also Bama’s offense was nowhere to be found.

Guerrero leaping over Clarence Morgan

Alabama could not get the running game off the ground and this was no fault of Sanchez or the Oline. FSU just had so many talented players on defense. Things finally started clicking in 4th quarter, but by then the score was 42-7. Sanchez would play his last game with a decent 4 catches for 77 yards but rushing only for 58 yards on 22 carries and 2 TDs. For those without calculators thats 2.6 yards per rush. QB Marcus Minor was decent throwing for 303 yards, but he only found the end zone once. However that single pass TD may may have hinted of things to come in the post-Sanchez years; TE Lucas Campbell (L.C.) caught the ball and ran into the endzone all because FR WR Ek Chua Smith (E.C.) pancaked a LB and a Safety. Minor, L.C. (not Lauren) and Ek Chua will be the three stars on offense in 2016. Peyton Manning’s college career ended in a blowout loss to Nebraska, the next year the Vols won the national title without their school legend. Could the same happen to the Tide? With a 4-6 bowl record and no national title in 10 years, Coach Namath’s job may depend on it.

However the Fiesta defeat should not and will not undermine Seth’s legacy. Michael Jordan last game was a blowout loss to the 76ers, Ali was defeated by Trevor Berbick in his last fight, while Felicity ended with two alternate universes (WTF?). Sanchez’s influence goes beyond the field. He proved to the football world that talent is not just black and white, but its brown and salsa too. In the post game press conference Guerrero stated that he probably wouldn’t have even played this year if not for Sanchez, “When I reported to FSU 5 years ago Coach Bowden saw my last name and thought that I was just some infielder from the baseball team who was lost, and I got burried in the depth chart, but then Sanchez’s performance last year proved that latinos could excel in things other than Baseball, Boxing and pimpin’ low riders.” The sidelines at the Fiesta Bowl were filled with Spanish celebrities and pretty white girls from Cali, and they were all there to pay tribute to Seth

celebs galore

Here’s Taco to you Seth, heh heh!

o.c. / seth sanchez moments #s 5-7

okay continuing the top 7 countdown

#4

the sister act 3-63 (Jan 19/06)

episodes starts with seth (cohen, not Sanhez) telling Ryan that everything thats going on is too perfect:

Seth: Ryan, don’t you see?
Ryan: Not so much
Seth: Things are going way too well around here
Ryan: What?
Seth: Marissa got back into Harvard, you guys seem to have resolved your surftastic love triangle, my girlfriend got a near perfect score in her SATs but we’ve never been happier
Ryan: Seth it’s senior year, it’s, it’s supposed to be the best year of
Seth: No, you should know better, everytime things are going too well around here it’s when doom comes knockin’
Ryan: Doom?
Seth: Aah knockin… (DOORBELL RINGS), or aah ringing. Don’t answer it, it’s probably a flaming bag of crap

guess who comes in….

Kaitlin’s arrival set off an intense three episode arc that ended in Johnny’s death. Newport would never be the same after this. Also it was nice to see FOX focus on the “well beyond her years” Kaitlin after caving to Post Super Bowl Janet pressure in Season 2 by putting an early end to the Marrissa and Alex affair. All is forgiven with Kaitlin. (Please don’t send me to jail, she’s just a character on the show that I thought was cool)

2014 Notre Dame – Catholic Forgiveness

This game highlighted Sanchez’s versatility 158 yards rushing combined with 3 receptions for 58 yards receiving (all clutch catches in the 4th); he’s the Hispanic Reggie Bush. More important however he helped QB Marcus Minor (a fellow 915er) gain back the confidence he loss from the South Carolina defeat. All of this against the #2 ranked Irish. The Tide were unstoppable from this point on and Minor is on the verge of becoming the greatest Bama QB in SBD history.

Both The O.C. writers and Marcus Minor were forgiven, thanks to Kaitlin and Sanchez’s versatility

the escape 1-7 (Sept 16/03)

I actually saw this episode in Toronto before I left for Vancouver. The gang goes to Mexico. Hilarity ensues. I honestly didn’t think that this show would last one season, but at the end of this episode Marissa goes crazy. Nice! So enjoy this clip in polish

2014 at UTEP – el siesta de la sanchez

The 2014 campaign began with a homecoming for the Socorro native. Sanchez would rush for 156 yards and 4TDs in front of his family and friends. And all of the 9-1-5 partied all night in his honor.

#2

the second chance 2-39 (Feb 3/05)

This touching moment ends with Marissa and Alex holding hands resulting in Malex. To me, this seemed like the happiest time for Marissa. She was boozin it and Ryan was being a jerk, so Alex came to the rescue. Once they broke up, everything went downhill for Coop. So let’s all enjoyl one of the greatest scenes in televsion history (not from above episode, but that special moment at the Bait Shop led to this).

All of this before Valentine’s day

2014 at Georgia Tech – 100

This came close to being the #1 all time Seth Sanchez moment. It was such a milestone moment for me, I had never gone this far in a Dynasty and #7 stepped it up in crunch time. Pure Jordan styles, he rushed for 206 yards and 4TDs and 3 of his TDs came in OT.

60-57 Alabama in OT & clander made this statement in the comments section”

Seth Sanchez – officially the best RB in the history of the Treble”

the o.c. / seth sanchez top 7 (7-5)

February 22, 2007 · 5 Comments

i left toronto for the west coast in october of 2003 to avoid old drama and to find a new adventure. Unfortunately / fortunately (depending on your state of mind, and moral values) in my 3+ years out here in Vancouver my only experience with new drama and adventure came with The O.C. and my Alabama Crimson Tide Dynasty. Thus it is only fitting that The O.C. airs its final episode at the same time that #7 Seth Sanchez, the greatest RB ever in my Dynasty, ends his college career.

so I bring to you my “well thought out” Top 7 Seth Sanchez games and my Top 7 episodes of The O.C.

#7

the party favor 3-74 (apr 27/06)

Season 3 was heavy and comedic fillers like this were welcomed with open arms. It was Senoir prom and Summer’s date was pop star “Big Korea”. Taylor also went nuts with reverse yellow fever (white girl / asian guy, rare!). But the highlight was Summer’s speech when Big Korea pointed and winked at two screaming Asian students, who were obviously fans. Then of course Summer fell on her head and Ryan beat up Volchek over Taylor’s stolen money.

race issues dominate ole miss game: 2013 – at Ole Miss

In H.S. in Socorro, TX, Seth Sanchez played under the name “Seth Scott” but when he reached Tuscaloosa he finally learned to take pride in his heritage. Where else but Oxford Mississippi to display Hispanic pride! The game was dedicated to RPT Wildcat Patrick Rodriquez, the victim of an injust suspension. Sanchez rushed for 136 yards and 2 TDs and Bama won 42-10. Game signified that Sanchez’s importance went beyond the stat sheet.

#6
the cold turkey 4-79 (nov 9/06)

though I watched and mildly enjoyed every episode after this (went from heavy teen drama to soap/sitcom) , to me this was the true series finale. touching scene where Julie goes to the Cohen’s and says to Ryan “Tell me about her”. (sorry I’m tearing up here as i write, i’m afraid of a future day where CL asks be to talk about SS). Poweful stuff! Anyways afterwards there was no mention ever of MC, and Ryan started to bang Taylor with Summer’s approval.

class of 2012 4-0 in iron bowl: 2015 at Auburn

with the loss to LSU, Seth Sanchez’s senior season would not have a hollywood ending. No National Title. No Heisman. No Maxwell. But Seth proved he had pride in his final Iron Bowl game rushing for 226 yards and 1 TD in a 23-17 Alabama victory. Regardless of what happens in the Fiesta Bowl against Florida State, this game (like The Cold Turkey) marks the end of an era.

#5

the road warrior 3-67 (Mar 9/06)

Therea Diaz, Lindsay Gardner (Nichol), Marissa Cooper, Taylor Townsend; all attached themselves to Mr. Ryan Atwood, but none of them measured up to the chemistry that he shared with Sadie Campbell (no relation to my TE Lucas Campblell – 1st Team SEC). Though only on the show for a couple of episodes, Sadie (played by 1988’s Nikki Reed) came into Newport at a time with so much drama. She just seemed right for Kid Chino. They took a road trip to Indio (home town of ex RPT Wildcat Justin Harmon) to get money from Johnny’s deabeat dad and bonded. The episode ended with Ryan breaking up with Marissa over the phone (would’ve been cooler if he just texted her). A brokenhearted Marissa is being eyeballed by Volchek, they bang each other in later episodes, meanwhile Sadie visits Ryan and drops by with a deck of cards. Touching moment. Everyone has that “Before Sunrise” / “Lost in Translation” moment in their lives where they didn’t know someone long enough to hate them, that’s why it seems perfect. Sadie was Ryan’s (sorry that was really chessy but it late and reflecting on Sanchez and Newport, so cut me some slack).

sanchez dirty in iron bowl win: 2012 Aubrun

i can’t believe i almost made Seth Sanchez into a WR or FS. This was his breakthrough game as a Freshman where he scored an 80 yard TD to put momentum in Bama’s favor resulting in a 40-17 blowout

#4-#2 moments, to come

All Night Long – Nicole Ritchie’s dad

With all this talk of Britney’s hair and rehab (booooorrriinnngg, shaving hair was so two years ago when portman did it and rehab was so last month with l.l.) the global media (myself included) has forgotten about Hania Barton checking into rehab on monday. Hania or h.b. as her friends (me) call her(yes lower case letters) played the role of Kristie on Paranoid and even attempted a music career.

Anyways in this year’s Dynasty all the attention will be on the two national title games Wisconsin vs. ASU in the Rose Bowl and Oklahoma vs. Notre Dame in the BCS Title game in New Orleans. But like Hania, we must not forget about the 2016 Fiesta Bowl between Alabama (11-1) and Florida State (11-1). This will actually be a match up to determine which polls are better as the Coaches have FSU at #5 and Bama at #7, while the AP is the opposite with Bama at #5 and FSU ranked #7. Both team’s only defeats came at the hands of their eventual conference champions: LSU and Maryland. Also there will be loads of NFL Talent on both sides. Florida State will be led by SO QB Bret Ray. Ray who is from Dothan, AL spent 1 year in JUCO and has thrown 28 TDs in his first year. The Noles also have a 99 OVR WR in Valley Alabama’s Bryan Guerrero. He stated that he will wear Sanchez’s decal on his helemt in tribute to his latin bredren.

Meanwhile the Crimson Tide will dedicate their game to American Hero Pac Man Jones. It will be SBD favorites Alex Branch, Anthony Thomas, Chris Richard and Seth Sanchez’s last games and all players would like to wish the RPT Wildcats good luck in their National Title game against Fresno State.

no atlanta, no heisman

>the LSU Tigers used the momentum from their Alabama upset to clinch the SEC West Title by beating Arkansas. The last time Bama did not make the SEC Title game was in 2010. LSU had no problem avenging their only loss by beating Florida 31-7. I hate LSU (both in real life and in video game life), but at 12-1 they deserve much more than their #21 Coach ranking and #16 AP ranking.

LSU Qb Chaz White finished 2nd in Hesiman voting to winner Tommy Meyers of undefeated Oklahoma. Sanchez who finished in 3rd, this timed applauded the winner, as opposed to the screw job last year. Meyers deserved it. The Tides only post season award went to JR Center Lawrence Castillo who won the Rimington. In his 1st year as starter he was Bama’s best OLineman, probably having extra motivation to block for his hispanic running back. He along with 5th year SR DE Daniel Johnson were named 1st Team All Americans. Seth Sanchez, CB Jaymond Keller and Clarence Morgan made the 2nd team.

BCS Bowl Notes

-Alabama (11-1) will play Florida State (11-1) in the Fiesta Bowl. FSU’s only loss came to ACC Champs Maryland
- SBD has determined that there were be a split national title regardless of what happens in the BCS Title Game between Notre Dame (12-0) and Oklahoma (13-0). Arizona State (12-0) will play defending champions Wisconsin (12-0) in the Rose Bowl
- LSU playes Houston in the Sugar Bowl, while Maryland plays West Virginia in the Orange Bowl.

class of 2012: 4-0 in iron bowl

February 22, 2007 · 2 Comments

It may seem hard to believe but this year it was hard to focus on the Iron Bowl, after the upset loss to LSU which ended the 2015 Bama team’s hope of a National title. But the tide stayed focused and Sanchez had the best game of his Iron Bowl career rushing 28 times for 226 yards and 1 TD. Minor didn’t throw much, but was effective going 11-17 for 106 yards and 1 TD. The Defense was once again outstanding containing Auburn’s talented WR Nate McGruder to 75 yards (he’s a 99 OVR and I’ll draft him if he’s there). Jaymond Keller had trouble covering him, but the Drillaz: Clarence Morgan and Charles Sanders were there to help, Morgan (pictured below) had a momentum changing INT in the 4th and the Tide were unstoppable from there.

blame game

February 21, 2007 · 1 Comment

blame the home crowd (last three losses were all in Tuscaloosa)
blame LSU’s D for shutting down Seth Sanchez
blame LSU’s Freshman OLB Ryan Green for his 3 sacks in the 4th
blame LSU’s secondary for their outstanding end zone coverage

lsusecondary

but most of all blame G Anthony Merritt who allowed 4 sacks with zero pancakes. Merritt will be put to the bottom of the depth chart and will be most likely cut from the team in the off-season. (This is me being half empty)

Actually in all honestly LSU was sick and with a 9-1 record and an upset over the #1 ranked Crimson Tide, its bullocks that they are not even ranked by the AP. #23 in the coaches. If they lose to Arkansas Bama will go to the SEC Championship and play Florida, here’s hoping that the Hogs win. (This is me being half full) The Tide had two chances to win it, but LSU’s D stopped them short of the endzone.

Key Stats
- Minor 20-35 405 yards 2 TDs 1 INT (another 400 yrd loss)
- Sanchez 18 carries 75 yards 1 TD; 4 rec 49 yards
- Chris Richard 8 rec 157 yards
- Anthony Thomas 5 rec 139 yards 1 TD
- Despite the 31 points Alabama’s D actually played pretty good, Morgan and Sanders each had an INT and stopped several TDs

LSU 31, Alabama 24

lastly, Coach Namath and the Seniors led by Captains Seth Sanchez and Alex Branch would like to apologize first and foremost to the Hispanic American community, and secondly to the readers of SBD. The team would like to thank the RPT Wildcats and the BRFR Bruins for their continued support and wish them all the best in their national championship hunt
