2014 recruiting update: southern exposure

February 1, 2007 · 2 Comments

the Crimson Tide are focused on winning their 4th straight SEC title and Namath just got his 100th career win, but this season will once again finish without a national title. But the future looks bright as 7 players have already commited to Alabama and with humble minded 5 Star recruit WR E.C. Smith (of Anchorage Alaska!!!!!!) asking other high school stars to join him to help bring a National Title to Tuscaloosa. “I ain’t leaving my polar bears and sleds for nothing”

Ek Chua “E.C.” Smith
6′2 190
Anchorage , AK
WR – 5 Star

5 Star recruit was the #1 JR H.S. player and was the first commit of the class of 2015. Had offers to play for several national high school powerhouses but choose to stay in his hometown. His High School >never lost a game in four years. Idolizes Alaskan athletes Carlos Boozer and Scott Gomez (but not Curt Schilling Trajan Langdon, he hates those guys) and hopes to put AK football on the map. His mother was an alcoholic prostitute and was of inuit descent. But she quit her job and changed her life when she was pregnant. She did not know who the father was and when her son came out she took one look at him and gave named him Ek Chua, the Inuit God of merchants and cacao growers, black faced with a huge nose. (source) E.C.’s mom only wanted to best, so he was raised on good morale values and he still has not yet had a drink. His mom worries about college life, but understands E.C.’s desire to play SEC Football and she was charmed by Coach Namath

Loren Johnson
5′11 237
Hollywood, CA
MLB – 4 star

This undersized MLB signed because he was “a fan of the program”. He attended Hollywood High which is filled with A List Alumni. His parents are both from Alabama and grads of U of A (bama, not zona). They were the first black graduates of the film program. The moved to Tinseltown to work in film. His mother is a film editor and his father is an overpaid gaffer. Loren was the man in L.A. and star football player but it irritated him that Actors, Rockstars, Pollution and Paris got more attention than his play on the field. So he choose to sign with his parents alma maters.

Wendall Harris
6′3 205
Bellefontaine, MO
WR – 4 star

Wendall is the opposite of the mild mannered Ek Chua Smith. He is your straight up stereotypical thug who talks more about hustlin’ and dice, than about football. He grew up in low income home in North St. Louis and he had distaste for the East St. Louis. When Darius Miles came to his high school to speak out against drugs, Wendall got into a fight with him and called him an “East Lou bitch” Wendall is very cocky and has already stated that he’s just using Bama has a stepping stone to the NFL. “3 years and out baby”. He also has a bad attitude and was arrested several times throughout high school. One incident involved him knocking down the gravestone of Explorer William clark at the famed Bellefontaine Cemetery. He was caught pouring a 40 on it and saying “explore this bitch”. Little did cops know that Wendall was a huge Cardinals fan and he hated the San Francisco Giants, as he thought that the gravestone was that of 1st Basemn Will Clark. Regardless of his past, he liked Coach Namath and signed with the Tide.

Brock Baker
5′11 188
Mayfield Heights, OH
CB – 4 star

Grew up in the nice Cleveland suburb of Mayfield Heights. Wanted to play for Ohio State, but he met ex-Tide Josh Reese after a Browns game and Josh told him about southern white girls and their money. Baker signed immediately

Jamie Moore
6′3 210
Fairhope, AL
QB – 4 star

From the same hometown as current Chiefs star CB Jason Miles,. Admired Coach Namath and is the 2nd WHT QB to sign during the Namath era. Jamie is country boy who has never left the state of album. Like all wht, errr I mean pocket QBs (on TV), his father is an abusive alcoholic who never shows up to any of his games. Moore is currently battling an addiction to anti-depressants, but he’s tough and sure can throw the ball

Freddie Rice
6′0 255
Fort Bliss, TX
DE – 4 star

2nd Tide player out of army base Fort Bliss. He is good friends with Tide QB Marcus Minor as both of their father served as in Iraq together. Has excellent discipline (big suprise) but poor potential. He was signed to keep Minor happy and to boost GPA.

Steve Jamison
6′8 300
Forestdale, AL
T – 4 Star

Steve is very tall and smart as he signed with Alabama because of their academics. He grew up country but enjoyed studying more. Parents were poor so he focused on football to pay for his education. He hopes football doesn’t get in the way of school.

100

first of all i would like to thank CL, MB, SO, CR, l.l., L.C., NN, CA, NS, the other CA, JL & DM for reading this blog. As for PM & TM (both former NCAA players) disappointed can not describe my feeling towards you two.

So I finally did it, I don’t think that I have ever reached 100 victories ever in any sports video game. Even my boxer in Fight Night Round 2 (Paco Paco a cuban heavyweight) only went up to 77 victories. But as Winston Churchill or LC once said, “Dreams do come true and Bama will have 100 victories” (true quote, i swear)

Win #100 was probably the most difficult (next to the classic 9-6 Auburn game in 2011, oh and vancouver water was toxic at the time). Georgia Tech was scheduled at the end of the year because they have a bit of history with Alabama. GT Coach Bobby Dodd and Bear Bryant were good friends until the Darwin Holt controversy, where Holt was said to have given Chick Graning a cheap shot that put him in the hospital. Tech upset with Bama’s dirty play left the SEC. As far as the Dynasty world goes, Georgia Tech over the last couple of years has stolen several recruits from the Crimson Tide. 15 players on the GT roster are from Alabama and most of them I tried to recruit. Anyways here we go with game details:

GT jumped out to a 21-7 lead and Minor could not call any hot routes or audibles because the stadium was so loud. But once again Seth Sanchez would spark the offence (setting up pass TDs) and by halftime the game was tied at 21. In the 2nd Half no one gained control of the momentum meter. Defence on both sides was tight and regulation ended with the score tied at 10. The only offensive highlight was Seth Sanchez’s 20th TD, an Alabama school record.

What would ensue next was 5 periods (or quarters, i don’t know what you call OT in college) of pure insanity

1st OT – GT TD in two plays; Sanchez TD in ten plays
38-38

2nd OT – Sanchez rush TD 1st play; GT pass TD on 4th down!!!
45-45

3rd OT – Bama and GT Defence prevail. Both team settle for FGs
48-48

4th OT – Sanchez gets 4th TD of the game but they miss 2 point conversion. GT has no problem getting a TD, but OLB Alex Branch breaks through OL to stop the 2 point conversion
54-54

5th OT – Branch’s stop final puts momentum in favor of Alabama as they hold the yellow jackets to a FG
57-54 Georgia Tech

Bama’s drive
1 yard pass to Sanchez – (2nd and 9 on the 24)
4 yard run by Minor -(3rd and 5 on the 19)
4 yard pass to Sanchez – (4th and 1 on the 16)
At this point I am tired from 5 OTs and my laundry needs to be put in the dryer, so I go for it
10 yard pass to Sanchez – (1st and 10 on the 6)

3 yard GAME WINNING / 100 CAREER WINNING TD to an open Trevor Young

Alabama 60, Georgia Tech 57 (5 overtimes)
Coach Namath 100-21

key stats
- Minor 25-36 310 yards 4 TDs
- Sanchez 206 yards 4 TDs
- Wayne 5-75-1, A.Thomas 5-57, T. Young 5-27-2
- Chrisitan, Branch, Jenkins, Mack 8 tackles, J.Williams 2 sacks

up next for #9 Alabama a rematch against 10-2 Tennessee in the SEC title game, winner goes to New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl, oh and it looks like USC will play Wisconsin in the national title game.

Oh and Sanchez is not even in the TOP 5 for the Heisman or the Maxwell (he has 22 TDs!!!!!!!) can we say the R word?
