ek chua’s oxford journey

February 15, 2007 · 4 Comments

Oxford, MS – #2 Alabama won 44-7, Minor threw 3 TDs, Sanchez ran for 147 yards 2 TDs, and caught 5 passes for 62 yards and 1 TD. Meh, yawn! The sky is blue. What was more important about this year’s Ole Miss encounter, was the fact that it was FR WR Ek Chua Smith’s first visit to the lovely state of Mississippi. E.C. was raised by his inuit mother in Anchorage, Alaska. She lived a hard life on the streets so when she had E.C. she sheltered him from the world. He did not drink and because he was a football star he did not experience racism. The only time Ek Chua was offended was during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, BC. He found it so insulting that the games were using a native symbol as their logo when the tax money being used for the Olympics led to cuts in several social services for Native Canadians.

So E.C. prepared for Mississippi by reading books and watching movies on the Magnolia State. He was shocked when he stepped off the Crimson Tide bus and saw countless scores of people in fancy print dresses and J Crew gear drinking heavily on The Grove. He had read that Mississippi was the 50th poorest state, so where did all this money come from? Things got worse on the field. The Ole Miss student body (black, white and half black half white) could not figure out what race he was, so they just used Asian and Hispanic insults towards him. E.C. was hurt and finished the game with 0 receptions and 2 drops. His mind was elsewhere.

E.C. was later spotted that night with an overly inebriated blonde Ole Miss English Grad student (please don’t tell his mom or the govnah)
