its been a tough summer for me, long work hours, eskima hunting, countless weddings killing my pocket, and an irritating rash, but I’m gradually building a bridge, getting over it and finding a new direction. this fall, much like the network tv schedule. i’m looking to make a lot of changes, but perhaps none as big as what I am about to announce:
Chris, please don’t hate me for this, but I’ve decided on a Dynasty team and you may not like this
After attempting a Dynasty with UTEP and Florida St, I realized that the transition from PS2 to 360 was tougher than I thought. In NCAA 07 on PS2, I had a title and system that I had been playing on for several years. Perfect sliders were found and as this blog shows, I had a blast playing 12 years of Dynasty. However on 360 I’m having a hard time, I ‘m still not accustomed to the controls as I find myself looking down at my controller during pass plays to find out where the Blue button is (I still get red and blue mixed up) and bam SACK or INT.
Point being that I need a Top 10 team to learn the game and have fun, or at least until I’m more comfortable. And I’ve gone with the Evil Empire:

No, not leg warmers, but they are fairly evil at times
Yes folks the most hated team in the land, the #1 ranked (well at least until they probably have some dumb loss to CAL or Oregon, love the Trojans, but I’m still not sold on Booty or the CBs) USC Trojans. Since moving out west, the Trojans have grown on me, I hated all things west coast before I moved here, but a hangover New Years day in Abbotsford. BC sold me and I hopped on the bandwagon (I’ll go deeper into how I became a hardcore fan later). Since then I followed USC’s recruiting targets like crazy and actually ended up bigger of fans of names like Sanchez and Turner more than Bush and Leinart. And in real life Turner is now getting some serious PT and after playing a bunch of multiplayer and online games, the Tennessee kid is my favorite target. I’m also big on Katrina kid McKnight and Staten Island’s Hazleton. I took as much interest in their dramatic last second commits to USC as I took in dramas of names like Cavallari and Conrad.

Morale of the Story: I’m having fun using this team in the Video Game world and Turner is sick.

Wait….. but how, do you ask, can I make this Dynasty exciting?
Well this blog will be different from last year’s Bama Dynasty (still feel guilty for not winning an NC) in that it will be told through the eyes of my first recruiting class. I will only play 6 years with USC (07 + the 5 years it will take for my entire first class to be grad) then move off to some team in the SEC. What amazed me about the last three recruiting classes at USC is how cocky they are, they don’t read depth charts but they still come to Lalala land. So I think it will be interesting to just follow one class and see them live up to the hype or have their expectations fall short. I read a Penn State book that followed one class for 5 years and it was really good, so I hope to keep your interest with this new approach to my Dynasty in 08.
Update: Named Stolenbike Bama star Terrence Graves as coach and had a grand time blowing out Idaho and I got my first commit already, The top LB in the land (#5 overall player) Cory Thompson of Vallejo, CA. More info to come
