wins 147 & 148

December 19, 2007 · Leave a Comment

147 – Secondary weakness shown in 73-20 opening blow out win

The Crimson Tide opened their 2019 campaign with a 53 point win over FCS powerhouse Appalachian State, however the Tide was rightly given a chorous of “boos” throughout the game. Why? Simply put the secondary played like c$%& let’s not forget no national title in 13 years, ya that too. Their 65 OVR WR had 12 catches for 184 yards and 2 TDS (my top 3 CBs are all 90+, can you see why the fans were pissed). No way this is going to work against LSU or Auburn. Only highlight was WR Wendell Harris who is an early heisman favorite with 8 rec for 223 yards and 3 TDs. However he is 98 OVR, while the DBs were in the 50s and QB Frazier had 6 total TDs

Other Stats
Frazier 15-25 284 yards 4 TDs, 58 yards rush 2 TDs
Junior Williams 105 yards rushing 1 TD
Wendall Harris 8-223-3

148 – Team Controversies Overshadow Frazier’s near perfect performance in Oxford

Leon Frazier went 13-15 and for the second straight game threw for 4 TDs in a 42-17 victory over Ole Miss. However two incidents stole the show. WR Wendell Harris started the fire when he released a hip hop version of Bob Dylan’s Oxford Town and had several of his groupies distribute the CD Single at The Grove. Harris had items thrown at him the entire game but he still finished with 107 yards and 2 TDs

The other incident occured during Frazier’s 1st INT of the year in the endzone.

SO TE Ben Weber (left) and True Frosh Eric Smith (right) both messed up their routes and were fighting for a TD pass that was intended for Harris. After the INT, Smith and Weber got into fight. This animosity not only stems from the fact that they are figting to be TE-ONE, but when they were both in high school they competed in a reality show called The Ultimate Tight End, where the nation’s top H.S. TEs competed in a series of events for $10,000 in charity money. It was a mix of The Ultimate Fighter and ESPNU’s Summer House. Weber was on Team Winslow and Smith on Team Shockey and the producers played the race card to a tee for high ratings. More on this later.

Key Stats

Frazier 13-15 200 yards 4 TDs, 52 yards rushing (only played 3 quarters)
W.Harris 5-107-2
OLB Matt Williams 7 tackles

Despite the two blowout victories, Coach Namath was not pleased with his team’s performance. The Tide have their first real challenge next in Madison against #8 Wisconsin. Will be a midwest homecoming of sorts of the Tide’s top two offensive players, Frazier of Chicago, IL and St. Louis area star Harris

2019 preview

2019 Preview

Its almost 2 years away, but the 2020 Iron Bowl hype got off to a start with Crimson Tide SS Jonathan Logan transferring to AUBURN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Logan, a JR, started for the Tide as a true Freshman, but was hurt in 2018 for most of his Sophmore campaign.

2019 logan transfer

Things got worse for Logan when the Tide received an early commitment from the #1 overall SS in Michael Rosario of Greenville, MS. Aware of Coach Namath’s bias towards hispanic players, Logan pissed off the entire Crimson Tide nation by transferring to rival Auburn. The tigers also had another high profile Transfer from Virginia Tech in JR QB Justin Samuel (96 OVR). The transfer seems shady as Virginia Tech only has two other QBs, both under 80 OVR. Also odd is the fact that Samuel doesn’t have to skip a year, he starts of the 2019 season with a 3 game academic suspension. Weird. Rosario will start at SS

Alabama went back into the top 25 in recruiting with a #19 overall class. Rosario is the only player who will get significant playing time in 2019. This year’s Tide team will be a mix of high profile 5 star seniors and 3 years worth of probation era recruits. Compare recruiting years below

2015 – ranked #11(eight 5th year players still on team, 5 are starters)
2016 – ranked #3 (H.S. Def MVP OLB Matt Wiliams will be a 4 year starter, stating QB and HB also from this class)
2017 – ranked #25 (G B.Carter will start, only 5 star from this class)
2018 – ranked #35 (Back RB and QB are from this class)
2019 – ranked #19 (H.S. AA Rosario will start at SS)

Top Players
QB Leon Frazier JR – Chicago, IL
2nd year starter is a Tim Tebow clone (wear #15 too) 23 passing TDs and 11 rushing TDs in 2018

HB Junior Williams JR – Bay Minette, AL
2nd year starter rushed for 934 yards and 12 TDs, twin bro Brandon starts at FS

WR Wendell Harris SR – Bellefontaine, MO
Cocky and flashy 5th year SR had back to back 600 yard years and is now ready to shine

DE Freddie Rice SR – Fort Bliss, TX
WHT DE with 4.5 speed was named defensive team captain

OLB Matt Wiliams SR – North Highlands, CA
Top LB in nation, will start for his 4th year, but still no National Title

CB Jacob Martin JR – Burlington, KY
#1 CB out of H.S. was a 2nd Team AA in his first year starting with 5 INTs

SS Michael Rosario FR – Greenville, MS
Thrown right into the fire, 4.39 speed 370 bench, 40′4 vert

Schedule
Bama is ranked #5 (7 teams in preseason Top 25 on the slate)

Appalachian State
at Ole Miss
at Wisconsin #9
Arkansas #17
South Carolina
at Kentucky
at Maryland #20
Tennessee #13
North Texas #23
at Mississippi State
LSU #10
at Auburn #25

Oh and here is CL’s new place, I like the shade of blue they used for the office

2018 recap

December 14, 2007 · 2 Comments

i have the flu again, so this is going to be quick

the 2018 title game marked the 3rd time in my 13 years that Alabama reached the finals. 2011 saw a heartbreaking loss in OT to Oklahoma, while the rematch in 2012 was an early morning affair, once again resulting in an OU victory. this year’s national title lacked the fanfare but the game was still insane. UCLA came out with a 24-17 victory on JR Nate Stephens’s 117 yards and 2 TDs.

Alabama’s Tim Tebow clone Louis Frazier (of Chicago, IL) was 14-23 for 160 yards and 1 TD and had an uncharacteristic 2 INTs. He was also held to only 27 yards on the ground and 1 TD. Inuit WR Ek Chua Smith of Anchorage Alaska ended his career with 5 rec and 93 yards. So upset with the loss was WR / thug Wendell Harris, that he attempted a flying kick on a UCLA defender after a reception. He had 1 TD and hopefully he will stay for his SR year

Key Highlights from the season

- Alabama finishes the season 12-2 and a #4 ranking in both polls. Ek Chua Smith leaves Alabama with several school records (217 rec 4045 yards 28 TDs)
- Bama still made the BCS Title game despite losing several starters for most of the year due to suspension or injury (this was the last year of Alabama’s 2 year probation)
- Also the administration only offered coach Namath a two year contract extension. Meaning that they are pissed that there is no national title in 13 years. But the school wants rsSO Frazier and JR Harris to stay, so firing Namath was not an option.

Key end of year stats

Frazier 172.7 rating 182-275 2711 yards 23 TDs 8 INTs 608 yards 11 TDs
Junior Williams 934 yards 12 TDs
Stevie Green 619 yards 5 TDs (injured most of the year)
EK Chua Smith 68-1325-9
Wendell Harris 48-673-6 (clutch!!!!)
JUCO kicker John Webster Groza winner 18-21 FGs
2nd Team AA – SR DT Derek Llloyd and SO CB Jacob Martin

Namath won’t leave Alabama unless he is fired (which could happen if there is no National Title in the next 2 years), on the road to Bowden’s career win record. The SEC will once again be tough with Arkansas, Auburn, Tennessee, LSU, & Florida all finishing in the Top 25

above is Kara Lang, women’s soccer player for UCLA. She is Canadian and has tree trunk legs, but i still have a crush on her.

anyways UCLA are the 2018 National Champions in my Dynasty. I loss to them 24-17.

13 years with Alabama and no national title

el paso, austin, or tuscaloosa?

December 11, 2007 · 3 Comments

it has already been decided that I will stick with NCAA 07 on PS2 until coach Joe Namath hits 360 career victories. In NCAA 07 Bowden’s record was 359 (the amount before he 2006 season began), same record appears in 08, someone at Tiburon forgot to update this. Current actual record is at 373 I think, blah blah blah

bowdenrecord

anyways what is not decided however is which team I will be using in the 2019. Currently I have a 146-29 record and after my national title game, I will have spent 13 seasons with Crimson Tide. Below are the pros and cons of the teams I am thinking of using on the road to Bowden’s record

UTEP – El Paso, TX

PROS
- i feel like i owe something to the 9-1-5 area code as I have had several players from there (Seth Sanchez, Marcus Minor)
- No Country for Old Men was a sweet movie
- border town!!!!!
- Houston is a powerhouse in my Dynasty which should make for an intense East Texas (purple drank) vs. West Texas (border crossing) rivalry
- they are last place in the CUSA in 2018, which should be fun trying to build them up
- the stadium backdrop is nice (mountains!)
- recruiting from New Mexico and Arizona!!!!
- i really like the banner i created for this blog
- the hispanic influence

CONS
- the hispanic influence (relax, its under my PROS as well)
- CUSA = gross (but if I play well enough I’m assuming the BIG 12 or PAC 10 will send me an invite)
- not a fan of the school song
- no known Namath connection to El Paso
- no mascot

ALABAMA – Tuscaloosa, AL

PROS
- 13 Seasons
- rivalry games have not loss their fun (Auburn, Tennessee, LSU are stil tense)
- i love recruiting in the south
- elephants
- will feel guilty abandoning my guys
- i love playing in the SEC

CONS
- sometimes i hate playing in the SEC
- will feel guilty breaking Bear Bryant’s Bama win record
- looks like Bama admins will only offer me a 2 year contract (I simmed to see what happened)
- with CL busy with Marriage, Career, Guitar Hero 3, SKate, HALO 3 and other 360 games including some weird ghetto board game that he and another friend seem to be hooked on, it would feel weird playing with Alabama. No SVSW and no egg. I want to keep that era special and perhaps begin a new one

TEXAS – Austin, TX

PROS
- 1st ever Dynasty I did back on 2001 was with the longhorns
- my only Heisman winner Terrence Graves is from San Antonio (3 hrs from Austin)
- Austin is a cool town
- other than Ok State, I hate every team in the BIG 12
- in 2018 the Longhorns finished in 5th place in the BIG 12 South, which should make it fun to rebuild a powerhouse
- rivals OU and Texas A&M are powerhouses in my Dynasty, meaning LSU / Auburn type games
CONS
- I’ll have to make a new banner
- Joe Namath’s greatest College game came in a loss to UT in the Orange Bowl (then again this could make for interesting storylines)
- USC loss in the Rose Bowl still kinda hurts on a personal level

this will most likely come to a coin toss between Texas and UTEP

tempe bound

December 11, 2007 · 2 Comments

This will be quick because its late on a Monday night, but anyways Bama is Tempe bound after avenging their only loss of the 2018 season against Tennessee.

Game MVP was slot WR Brian Allen (yes he wears Namath’s #12) who not only returned an 88 yard punt for a TD, that bounced off three player’s helmets, but also caught the GWTD in the closing seconds of the game for a 31-28 Alabama victory.

The victory gave the Tide its first SEC title since 2014 (Bama won 5 out of 6 from 2009-2014) and pushed them ahead of all the other 1 loss teams for the right to play in the BCS Title game against undefeated UCLA

Final BCS Standings (info / BOWL)
UCLA 12-0
BAMA 12-1 (Beat UND, 1-1 vs. TENN)
UND 11-1 (only loss to BAMA, Rose)
TENN 12-1 (only loss to BAMA, Sugar)
OU 12-1 (only loss to UND, Fiesta)
ASU 11-1 (only loss to UCLA, Sugar)
VT 12-1 (Orange)
NEB 11-1 (Holliday)
WVU 11-1 (Orange)
LSU 11-1 (only loss to BAMA, too lazy to turn on machine again to see which bowl they are playing in)

And the real life 2007 BCS guys thought they had a big problem

Anyways the biggest problem for the Tide will most likely be distractions, meaning ASU girls coming back home from XMASCAH vacation

roll tide

turning back the clock

December 3, 2007 · 1 Comment

for those who don’t know, i just recently watched the most bizarre episode of Hannah Montana, where the tabloids mistake her brother as her boyfriend, hilarity and all stereotypes about trailer trash incest, ensues (please ignore the fact that i was watching Hannah Montana late on a Sunday night)

okay of perhaps equal importance is the fact that i gave my 360 away to my nephew (uncle of the year is me) this has forced me to turn back on my PS2 and continue what i left behind. this course of action made me realize superiority of NCAA 07 on PS2 over 08 on 360. On 08 gameplay is solid, super sim is great, and the screenshot option is every dynasty geek’s dream, but it just lacked that college feel to make me want to play several seasons. 07 has it all,

some key elements missing from 08 that hinder lasting appeal
- players running the field
- custom fan signs
- sideline and crowd atmosphere
- alternate jerseys
- the fact that you can’t view a player’s hometown during the season
- user friendly menus
- position rank (wtf, why does 08 list overall rank)

Also some Boise state guy is on the cover, compared to Reggie Bush.

anyways here’s a quick summary of where i’m at. its 2018, still no national title in 13 years of play for the Joe Namath led Crimson Tide. But they are 11-1 heading into the SEC Title game with a rematch against Tennessee (their only loss). Bama is ranked #4 and they are #2 in the BCS. The winner will most likely play #1 UCLA in the title game. Bama will pass #3 UND, because the Tide beat them earlier in the season and because they are catholic

after this i will attempt to break the coaching win record (this may take two years, real years that is, it will probably take 20 dynasty years), most likely this will not be done with bama (it will be weird to use Bama without CL playing with Zona – he’s moved on to more important things, like a career, marriage and other games on the 360 like Guitar Hero and Skate) So a move to either Austin or El Paso to break the win record is on the horizon

fate?

October 8, 2007 · 1 Comment

hahahah a rod and buffalo

well with my long weekend consumed watching white girls crank that soulja boy i skimmed through the regular season, playing half the plays and the other half using super sim. It was actually pretty fun. Plus in this 1st year of Dynasty my focus is on recruiting Coach Sanchez’s 1st class. Here are the results:

won 28-24 vs. Rice (played the whole 4th quarter, it was nuts)
won 21-16 at Tulane
won 30-17 vs. Southern Miss
loss 21-45 at Central Florida

In the games I tested out Cals, South Carolina and Florida’s playbook, i think I’m going to recruit players that will fit the Florida playbook.

the loss against UCF kept me out of the Top 25 & Fred Rouse got injured and will be out for the year, but hey UTEP is 10-2 and will be facing Memphis in the CUSA Championship. And if we win that game, look who we’ll be playing in the Liberty Bowl

wow!!!!!!!!

Early Commits So far

Terrence Tatum TE Humble, TX – 4 STAR, #9TE, Houston Area star
Michael Pitts DE Robstwon, TX – 4 STAR, #3 JUCO DE, 4.69 wht!
Troy Vickers QB Dickinson, TX – 3 STAR, #37 QB, #8 in TX, another Houston Area star
Ed Morgan CB Aldine, TX – 3 STAR, #34 CB, 4.39 Houston Area again
Nick O’Brien C Farmer’s Branch, TX – 2 STAR, Bench 420, Dallas Area player

Looks like most of my recruits were influenced by UTEP’s victories against SMU and Houston, as there are no players from West Texas, however there are 3 players from the Houston area and one so far from Dallas

go Miners
